Methods of Empirical Social Research

Methods of Empirical Social Research

The Section ›Methods of Empirical Social Research‹ of the German Sociological Association sees itself as a representative of social science methods in their entire range. It aims to provide an institutional home for both qualitative and quantitative research in Germany and to promote a constructive professional exchange within and between the respective research paradigms. In addition to dealing with methodological questions, methodological developments, statistical procedures and empirical applications, it is the section's firm goal to give the methods of empirical social research a stronger institutional weight and to strengthen their significance in both sociological research and teaching. Cooperations and regular joint events with other sections of the DGS and other professional associations as well as with the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Sozialwissenschaftlicher Institute (ASI) serve to keep an applied perspective on research methods in mind and to enable methodological impulses from the practical side and other disciplines.
