Welcome to the website of the Biographical Research Section of the German Sociological Association!

The section has existed since 1986 and emerged from the "Biographical Research" working group founded in 1979.

The section brings together sociologists and academics from other disciplines who work with biographies as an approach to social processes and constellations in research and teaching. This includes theoretical contributions on the constitution and construction of biograpies, methodological questions as well as empirical research on various sociological topics based on biographical approaches.
