Kohli Prize for Sociology 2025

The Kohli Prize for Sociology honors exceptional achievements in and contributions to the field and profession of sociology. The Kohli Foundation for Sociology calls for nominations of individuals who have made a significant imprint on sociological knowledge. The prize is worth 50.000 EUR. The nominee is expected to deliver an address at the Prize Ceremony, to be held at the European University Institute (EUI, Fiesole/Florence) presumably on November 12, 2025.

A nomination can be submitted by a scholar based at any institution of higher learning and research (University, research institution, Academy of Sciences). Previous nominations will be reconsidered and need not be submitted again. The nominations must be written in English and should include a short summary of your nomination (150 words) and a full nomination (1-2 pages) presenting a coherent argument for why you believe the nominee deserves to be awarded the Kohli Prize for Sociology. A nomination should also include an attached CV and publication list of the nominee.

The nominations are confidential and should not be shared with the nominee prior to or after their submission. Self-nominations and posthumous nominations are not accepted.

The Kohli Prize for Sociology is awarded by an international Selection Committee. The Committee is composed of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of the Kohli Foundation for Sociology and two additional members from other world regions.
