Symposion: Streit um Wissenschaftskooperation, Teil 2 
Die drei Beiträge im zweiten Teil des Symposions beleuchten unterschiedliche Folgen des 7. Oktober 2023 und der Suspendierung der ISS für den akademischen Raum. Naika Fo­routan zeigt, dass wissenschaftliche Kooperationen immer auch politische Be­zie­hun­gen sind und warnt davor, normative Entscheidungen auf Einzelpersonen abzuwälzen, da dies institutionelle Autonomie untergräbt. Dani Kranz und Stefan Liebig do­ku­men­tie­ren eine systematische Zunahme von Ausgrenzung israelischer Wis­sen­schaft­ler:inn­en, die sich besonders stark auf Nachwuchsforschende auswirkt und Publikationen, in­sti­tutionelle Strukturen sowie kollegiale Beziehungen betrifft. Monika Wohlrab-Sahr ana­lysiert die rhetorischen Strategien der Befürworter:innen der ISS-Suspendierung, da­run­ter Dringlichkeitsargumente, Dekontextualisierung des Gaza-Krieges und die nor­ma­tive Forderung nach bestimmten Sprechakten, die Institutionen fälschlich als bereits gleich­geschaltet erscheinen lassen.
     The three papers in the second part of the symposium examine the various con­se­quen­ces of 7 October 2023 and the suspension of the ISS for the academic sphere. Naika Foroutan demonstrates that academic collaborations are always also political rela­tionships and warns against shifting normative decisions onto in­di­vi­duals, as this undermines institutional autonomy. Dani Kranz and Stefan Liebig do­cu­ment a sys­te­matic increase in the exclusion of Israeli academics, which has a par­ti­cularly severe im­pact on early-career researchers and affects publications, in­sti­tu­tional structures and collegial relationships. Monika Wohlrab-Sahr analyses the rhe­torical strategies em­ployed by those advocating the ISS suspension, including ar­gu­ments of urgency, the decontextualisation of the Gaza war, and the normative de­mand for specific speech acts that falsely portray institutions as already having been brought into line.

Der Beitrag reagiert auf Joachim Renns Behauptung, die Soziologie befinde sich in einer durch ein Übermaß an Selbstreflexion ausgelösten Wahrheits- und Autono­mie­krise. Die dieser Einschätzung zugrundeliegende Verwechslung eines Struk­tur­pro­blems mit einem Theorieproblem ist auf ein Missverständnis von Soziologie der So­ziologie und Theorizing als Verfallssymptome zurückzuführen. Demgegenüber wird argumentiert, dass beide Strömungen nicht Ursache, sondern Reaktion auf einen strukturellen Wandel der Wissenschaftsöffentlichkeit sind, der sich durch fort­schrei­tende subdisziplinäre Differenzierung, managerielle Transformation des Hochschulsystems und quantifizierte Leistungsbeurteilung auszeichnet. Die Sozio­lo­gie der Soziologie leistet strukturanalytische Aufklärung dieser Verhältnisse, das Theo­­rizing zielt auf eine paradigmenübergreifende Verständigung über Methoden und Standards soziologischer Theoriearbeit. Beide Unternehmungen stärken das pre­­käre Allgemeine der soziologischen Theorie und eignen sich in ihrem postelitären Habi­tus nur begrenzt für die Darstellungsinteressen distanter Autoritäten. 
     This paper responds to Joachim Renn›s claim that sociology finds itself in a crisis of truth and autonomy triggered by an excess of self-reflection. The confusion of a structural problem with a theoretical problem underlying this assessment stems from Renn‹s misreading of the sociology of sociology and theorizing as symptoms of de­cline. Against this perception, it is argued that both currents are not the cause but rather a re­action to a structural transformation of the academic public sphere, cha­rac­­terized by ongoing subdisciplinary differentiation, the managerial transformation of the uni­ver­sity system, and quantified performance assessment. The sociology of so­ciology pro­vi­des structural-analytical clarification of these conditions, while theo­ri­zing aims at a cross-paradigmatic understanding of the methods and standards of so­ciological the­o­­ry work. Both endeavors strengthen the precarious generality of so­ciological the­ory and, by virtue of their post-elitist habitus, are only of limited use for the pre­sen­tational interests of distant authorities.
