The Infrastructure Prize for Sociology honors substantial contributions to important infrastructures that advance sociological knowledge. Such infrastructures can serve for data generation (e.g., large cross-national surveys), data preservation (e.g., archives), knowledge dissemination (e.g., learning platforms), fundamental research (e.g., setting up research institutes), or knowledge communication (e.g., science journalism). The Kohli Foundation for Sociology calls to nominate persons, projects or organizations which have made a substantial contribution to such an infrastructure in sociology. The prize is worth 10.000 EUR. The nominee is expected to deliver an address at the Prize Ceremony, to be held at the European University Institute (EUI, Fiesole/Florence) presumably on November 12, 2025.
A nomination can be submitted by a scholar based at any institution of higher learning and research (University, research institution, Academy of Sciences). The nominations must be written in English and should include a short summary (150 words) of your nomination and a full nomination (of about 1-2 pages) presenting a coherent argument for why you believe the nominee deserves to be awarded the Infrastructure Prize for Sociology.
The nominations are confidential and should not be shared with the nominee prior to or after their submission. Self-nominations and posthumous nominations are not accepted. The Infrastructure Prize for Sociology is awarded by an international Selection Committee. The Committee is composed of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of the Kohli Foundation for Sociology and two additional members from other world regions.
Please submit your nominations via the nomination form on our website: www.kohlifoundation.eu by March 16, 2025.
