Das Symposion über Autorschaft schließt an das Symposion über Plagiate (Heft 4/2022) an. Es geht um das Verhältnis von Autor und Text, Text und Gegenstand, Text und Leser:in. Wann ist es sinnvoll und erlaubt, mit dem Personalpronomen ›Ich‹ die Autorschaft in einem Text auch explizit zu machen, fragt Paula-Irene Villa. Maren Lehmann entwirft eine Soziologie der Personalisierung, die sich vor einer Sub­jektivierung hüten muss, auf die dennoch nicht verzichtet werden kann. In wel­chen blinden Flecken bewegt sich eine Autor:in, die sich postkolonial engagiert, fragt Ma­nuela Boatcă. Und Dirk Baecker diskutiert die Frage, inwiefern ein Text und sein/e Autor:in Teil der sozialen Wirklichkeit sind, von denen sie handeln.

The symposium on authorship follows on from the symposium on plagiarism (issue 4/2022). It deals with the relationship between author and text, text and subject, text and reader. Paula-Irene Villa asks when it makes sense and is permissible to use the per­sonal pronoun ›I‹ to make authorship explicit in a text. Maren Lehmann drafts a so­ciology of personalization that must be wary of subjectification, which never­the­less can­not be dispensed with. Manuela Boatcă asks what blind spots an author who en­gages in postcolonialism finds themselves in. And Dirk Baecker discusses the ques­tion of the extent to which a text and its author(s) are part of the social reality they deal with.

Early Career Researchers als Wissenschaftskapitalisten

ECRs konkurrieren um knappe Stellen. Für sie stellt sich die Frage nach der besten Strategie, um auf eine Professur berufen zu werden. Wir leisten mit Blick auf die So­zio­logie einen Beitrag zur Beantwortung dieser Frage. Zunächst stellen wir zur all­ge­mei­nen Orientierung eine im Anschluss an Bourdieu entwickelte Kapitaltheorie vor, mit der alle durch Arbeit beeinflussbaren Determinanten wissenschaftlicher Karrieren sys­tematisiert werden können. Dann sichten wir auf der Folie dieser Theorie einige rele­vante empirische Studien, um Aufschluss darüber zu bekommen, welches spe­zi­fische Kapital sich als karrierefördernd erwiesen hat. Abschließend formulieren wir Em­pfehlungen, die ECRs zur Planung ihrer Karrieren dienen kön­nen.

ECRs compete for scarce positions. For them, the question arises as to the best stra­tegy for being appointed to a professorship. We make a contribution to an­swe­ring this ques­tion with regard to sociology. First, for general orientation, we present a capital theory fol­lowing Bourdieu, with which all determinants of academic careers that can be in­fluenced by work can be systematized. We then use this theory to exa­mine a num­ber of re­levant empirical studies in order to gain insight into which specific capital has proven to be career-enhancing. Finally, we formulate re­com­men­da­tions that ECRs can use to plan their careers.

Das Fach Soziologie im CHE Ranking 2024/2025

Nach einer über zehnjährigen Pause nimmt das Fach Soziologie ab 2024 wieder am CHE Ranking teil. Vorangegangen war die intensive Arbeit eines Fachbeirates, bestehend aus Vertreterinnen und Vertretern des CHE, der DGS und der Akademie für Soziologie, die die Erhebungsmethode und die -instrumente grundlegend über­ar­beitet haben. Damit wurden die bisherigen Kritikpunkte behoben, die von vielen so­zio­lo­gischen Instituten geäußert worden waren und schließlich zu deren Nicht-Teilnahme am Ranking führten. Im vorliegenden Artikel beschreiben wir die Zu­sam­mensetzung des Fachbeirats und der Arbeitsgruppen, die wichtigsten Er­neu­erun­gen und die spezifischen Anpassungen in den Erhebungsmethoden, die zur Wie­deraufnahme des Fachs Soziologie ins CHE-Ranking führten. Diese An­pas­sun­gen der Erhebungsinstrumente als auch die Einführung eines neuen Aus­wer­tungs­ver­fahrens waren notwendig, um die Belastbarkeit und Aussagekraft der Ergebnisse zu erhöhen. Des Weiteren stellen wir erste Ergebnisse der Datenerhebungen vor.

After a break of more than ten years, from 2024 on sociology will once again take part in the CHE ranking. This was preceded by the intensive work of an advisory board consisting of representatives of the CHE, the DGS and the Academy of So­cio­logy, who fundamentally revised the survey method and instruments. This re­cti­fied the previous points of criticism that had been voiced by many sociological in­sti­tutes and ultimately led to their non-participation in the ranking. In this article, we de­scribe the composition of the advisory board and the working groups, the most im­portant changes and the specific adjustments to the survey methods that led to the re-entry of sociology in the CHE ranking. These adjustments to the survey in­stru­­ments and the introduction of a new evaluation procedure were necessary in or­­der to increase the reliability and informative value of the results. We also present the initial results of the data collection.
