The Stiftung Deutsch-Amerikanische Wissenschaftsbeziehungen (SDAW / Foundation on German-American Academic Relations) is pleased to announce the availability of five to ten travel scholarships of up to 1,000 EUR each to support participation in the 17th German American Conference at Harvard University on , taking place November 14–16, 2025. The conference is one of the largest student-led events in the U.S., fostering dialogue and exchange between leaders and young professionals from both sides of the Atlantic.
SDAW is dedicated to strengthening transatlantic academic cooperation. It funds research groups and other academic initiatives in the social sciences—broadly defined—that bring together German, European, and North American scholars and students working on topics of particular relevance to the transatlantic relationship.
We invite students and early-career researchers with a demonstrated interest in German-American relations, transatlantic issues, and broader topics within the social sciences and humanities to apply.
Scholarship Details
5–10 travel scholarships of up to 1,000 EUR each
Designed to cover travel and accommodation expenses related to conference participation
For successful applicants: submission of receipts and a short (max. one-page) report on your participation after the conference
Eligibility
Age between 20 and 30 years
Enrolled at a German university
Able to obtain a U.S. visa (or ESTA)
Proof of travel health insurance

One-page motivation letter (in English), outlining your interest in the conference and its relevance to your academic/professional background
