The range of topics in urban and regional sociology has expanded considerably in recent years. Questions of spatial construction, gentrification, and local patterns of social inequality have been joined by issues of digitalization and environmental sustainability. The range of data and empirical methods available for urban, regional, and spatial research has also expanded. Examples include big data analysis or the combination of qualitative analysis with process- produced data.
At the DGS Autumn Meeting 2024 of the Section for Urban and Regional Sociology, which will take place on November 7-8, 2024, at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, we would like to open a space for the discussion of these and other current topics in urban and regional sociology. We invite contributions that deal with empirical findings, theoretical reflections or conceptual ideas of urban and regional sociology. The aim is to have a productive exchange on current issues in urban and regional sociology.
For graduate students, the Section also offers a workshop on November 6, 2024, where current dissertations at all stages of completion can be discussed with Section members and where there is an opportunity for further networking.
The autumn conference at the Ruhr-University Bochum will be organized by Sören Petermann and his team.
Please send abstracts (in German or English, maximum 2,600 characters including spaces) to the Section's speaker team by 15.06.2024, at the following address: srsoziologie(at)gmail.com.
